GT Children's Ministry

The aim of this ministry is to provide a safe environment for children to learn and develop their understanding of biblical principles with practical applications.

Children are given the opportunity to explore their skills and talents as they learn through a variety of methods including arts and craft, music, drama, dance.

All our staff have undergone the necessary DBS checks and receive annual safeguarding training. We also have trained first aiders present at every activity and event.

Children's Ministry

Our Sunday School

The aim of our children’s Sunday school is to provide comprehensive education and training to individuals of all ages, so that they can develop a sound understanding of key biblical principles with practical applications.  Weekly Sunday School lessons are prepared in advance based on a specific curriculum.  The lessons are tailor-made to suit the ages and abilities of the children in each group.  A variety of teaching methods are employed, in each class, including the use of arts and craft, music, drama, dance, debates, cooking/baking, gardening, numeracy and literacy tasks, videos, games, puzzles and role plays. Our resources are constantly updated to suit the needs of the students.

Classes take place from 10.15am and children are taught in age-appropriate groups as follows:

  • Preschool and Infants

  • Juniors

  • Preteens

There is also a Youth Bible class for older teens and young adults

A large proportion of our teaching staff are qualified teachers with many years’ experience working in mainstream education, in nursery, primary and secondary schools. This means that we are able to monitor the children’s development in different areas linked to the National Curriculum in an effort to supplement the teaching they receive in school.  Parents are given the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher, at the end of the academic year, at our annual Parent’s Day in July.

Sunday School Expo

Each quarter, the children get the chance to showcase their learning during the main service.

Children's Church

Every second and fourth Sunday, the children (aged 5-11), have a separate children’s church service. This environment gives them the opportunity to build their confidence, by taking charge of their own worship experience, sharing their testimonies, words of encouragement and their own understanding of the Bible to each other. They also participate in a variety of activities to reinforce what they have learnt.

Summer Camp

The highlight each year is our Summer Camp, a 5-day residential retreat where children engage in an exciting range of programs and activities designed to provide an enjoyable, spiritual and educational experience for them.  The summer camps take place at a different rural location around the UK each year. Children take part in onsite sports, creative and teambuilding exercises, as well as various field trips throughout the week.

Other events

The Sunday school team also organises various activities and field trips throughout the year to provide opportunities for children to socialise with each other as well increase their cultural experience.  This includes trips to bowling, laser tag, theme parks, museums and the theatre. We also host annual Christmas and Easter fairs, an annual Christmas pageant and a back to school event at the end of the summer.
